Frequently Asked

Questions Travellers Ask

Easy to moderate. Most days involve light walking with one optional morning hike and a short horse ride at Song-Kul. The walnut forest hike on Day 8 is around 2 km on uneven paths. Nothing strenuous.

One night at Song-Kul (3,016m) is the highest point. You also cross Dolon Pass at 3,030m. Most travellers feel mildly winded but recover quickly. The rest of the tour stays below 1,200m.

Layers for the mountains (a warm fleece is essential for the yurt night), lighter clothing for Osh and Arslanbob (warmer southern climate), sturdy walking shoes, modest clothing for the Sulaiman-Too sacred site, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a windproof jacket.

Yes. Both are easy. Osh and the south have a stronger Uzbek-influenced cuisine — vegetarian plov, samsa with vegetables, and fresh produce are readily available. Halal is standard nationwide.

June through mid-September. June–July for green pastures and flowers, late August–early September for harvest in Arslanbob (the walnut forest is at its best). Song-Kul road is closed roughly November to May.

Fly into Manas International (FRU) in Bishkek and out of Osh International Airport (OSS). Or continue overland from Osh into Uzbekistan via the Andijan border crossing — we can arrange the transfer.
